Michigan artist, Dacia Parker has been a photographer for more than two decades. She received her BFA in photography from the University of Michigan School of Art and Design, while launching her own freelance photography business. Intrigued by light and structure, her work led her to travel extensively, studying the integration of architecture and digital media. She finally settled in Seattle’s vibrant art scene where she continued to explore new photographic technologies, digital media, and design. She also began what would become the next phase of her work exploring images of women and family.
Family, ultimately, brought Dacia back to the mid-west and opened new paths of creativity to celebrate, life, family, community and home. This work led her to form a rich partnership with Captured Photography where she collaborated on the development of the studio services now offered by the group. While she continues to teach and practice photography, she has also explored other avenues of creativity in her recent work. She has embraced new areas of reinvention and redesign, developing a line of accessories designed to make one’s home a warm, rich, creative environment utilizing reimagined materials.
Dacia shares her life in Midland, Michigan with her husband andthree children.
