Who Is Snaptown Photography?
Let’s meet the Photographer…
Justin Walsh, raised in beautiful Tucson Arizona, fell in love with photography early in life. At age ten, borrowing his parent’s 35mm point and shoot camera, he would hike the hills near his home and attempt to capture what he considered to be the “perfect Arizona sunset.” After trading the vast colors of a desert landscape for those of Indiana’s changing seasons in 2005, Justin has come to consider Indianapolis home.
Justin created Snaptown Photography directly after graduating from Indiana University, Herron School of Art and Design in 2010. Along with earning a Bachelors of Fine Art in Photography, Justin was awarded both the Herron Lynn Award Fund/Brian Lee Gilliatt Scholarship and the Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Art Scholarship. He dreams of one day owning his own studio, traveling the globe as a fine art photographer and having his work shown in galleries around the world.
Justin’s art aims to capture that illusive yet integral line between “what is” and “what is perceived”. Lending itself to the use of simple esthetic ideals, his photography captures that which so often remain unseen in the world we observe everyday. Though his true heart always returns to landscape photography, Justin has been able to develop and use this esthetic to become proficient in the languages of portraiture, product and design photography.
He has recently become interested in what he calls “Artistic Process and Documentation” photography. Here the main focus of a session is to capture an artist creating their work and provide exceptional documentation at various points in the creative process. Regardless of the genre, the search for that illusive integration between things "seen” and "felt” enables him to to make the lens his voice in a lifelong journey to descibe the word. He feels nothing but eternal gratitude to be afforded the opportunity to follow his passion and do what he loves most: create!
He respectfully asks you to sit back and enjoy his work but to please refrain from copying or distributing it without his express permission. Please feel free to contact him with any question you might have or if you ever just want to sit and have a chat!
