Hi! I am sure you would like to know a little bit about what makes up Christina Miller Photography. To start off, I am a mother and wife who happens to very much enjoy photography. I started off this photography business in college under my maiden name, mainly photographing other fellow students and some families. At first, I didn't have the drive to make it a full time business, so I kept it at a hobby level while I worked a few childcare gigs and some other small jobs.
My life journey continued, moving my husband and I up to Washington state from Southern California, the need and desire to grow this business surfaced. I worked long hours trying to work babysitting jobs while also being a wife and business woman. I quickly realized that I was not cut out for standard family portraits - there seemed to be something missing. I searched long and hard for the niche in the photography world that I belonged in. I never had fit in, even as a kid growing up. Where was I meant to be? Where was God calling me to be?
Life went on, God blessed us with a baby, then BAM! It hit me. As we prepared for my daughter's baptism, I realized I was called to be a part of the Catholic church in a way I had never been before. Not in the conventional sense, but to take my talents and passion as a photographer and direct it towards capturing the amazing Sacraments.
My passion is to capture these milestones of each person's journey with God and to help them have a visual piece of that stepping stone - photographs of that special, personal, sacramental moment of their life. Of course, this desire is not confined to the Catholic church, but towards all religions and religious events.
Now some of you may wonder why all the black and white photographs? Well the answer is simple. I want the focus of the photograph to be on the subject and the event, not the color. I find color to be a vital part of a photograph, but sometimes it can take away from the photograph's message and intent. I hope you all join me in praying for everyone in my photographs as as for those who are yet to be!
