I've always loved taking pictures. My first experience was using 110 film and flip flashes on my first Fisher Price camera, it's bright blue body and rubber-handled edges were nearly indestructible. I remember being hesitant to book a wedding photographer who shot only digital when my husband and I got married just over 10 years ago. Today, the thought of not shooting fully digital seems like a totally foreign concept!
My love of photography grew exponentially when we welcomed children into our home. With the birth of my son, I purchased my first DSLR Canon Rebel and 50mm prime lens. I was in heaven! Seven years, two upgraded cameras later, and another child later, I still have that very first DSLR. My 5-year-old daughter uses it on our photo walks and trips to nearby botanical gardens.
A self-taught photographer, my hobby became a business in the fall of 2010, and it's been a wild ride. I've learned so much and have met some phenomenal people. I'm convinced that there will always be more to learn about composition, lighting, posing, and editing, workflow...and the list goes on.
Having primarily focused on families, children and senior photography, I've also had the privilege of photographing weddings as well. Throughout the spring and summer, I will be capturing a select few portrait sessions before returning to my full-time middle school teaching job in the fall. Although the business aspect of my photography will be scaling back in the near future, I'm confident my love of seeking and capturing the everyday beauty will flourish.
