I'm from Jackson, Michigan. I started taking pictures as a student at Lumen Christi High School, where I fell in love with the art of working in darkrooms and developing 35mm and medium format film.
I've been fortunate to travel most of the U.S. and much of the world. I spent a year studying photography & art at Libera Accademia Di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy when I was 24. I also worked as a photographer's assistant with Arrigo Coppitz who is a well established commercial photographer in Florence. He taught me about studio lighting and composition. I love all types of photography and have learned that everything can be beautiful and interesting, it's all in the perspective.
The everyday use of film in professional photography has become a thing of the past with the power and brilliance of digital imagery. It opens up avenues to new and creative ways of shooting. As a photographer I believe it's important to be able to change and use your imagination to create and build a world where people are drawn into your pictures and love the images that you capture. Along with the philosophy that everyday is a new opportunity to learn, I believe in studying your passion so I am always reading new and old books on design, technique and pretty much anything I can get my hands on that will enhance my photography abilities in all fields.
