Thank you for stopping by!
My name is Amanda Donohue, and I love photography because it allows me to capture and preserve all the details, faces, and emotions that change so quickly over time. I enjoy looking back at my own family photos and hearing the stories behind the faces - stories which seem to have been lost until a photo brings back long forgotten memories.
I was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Bethesda, MD. I lived in Bethesda until I graduated from Walt Whitman High School and went off to college. Only recently did my family sell our childhood home because my mother has Alzheimer's. My mother's fading memory reminds me daily of the importance of capturing moments in time, and preserving memories for future generations.
Every year on my son's birthday we look at his baby photos - a tradition which we both love. My son turned 7 this year and looking at his baby pictures brought up so many stories. Stories about heading to the hospital at 4am. Stories about his Aunt rushing to drive to the hospital from Philadelphia to make sure she didn't miss his arrival. Stories about his grandmother who cried when she saw his face for the first time. Stories about our struggles to have him and the 10 tests I took because I couldn't believe I was pregnant. These stories, these memories, these conversations - all sparked by photographs, which froze a little moment in time.
I enjoy photographing families year after year - seeing them grow and change - knowing that I am preserving memories for them that they will pass down for generations. I would love the opportunity to photograph your child's next milestone, your family reunion, the arrival of your newborn, or a visit from the grandparents!
My passion for photography is truly a passion for families, their stories, and memories. Thank you for considering me to help capture and preserve your story.
