Markus Van Meter is an adventure photographer and digital designer based in Ouray, Colorado and focuses his work on the alpine environment in the San Juan Mountains. His photographic portfolio tells a story of mountain living that includes hiking, ice climbing, skiing, and culture that makes Southwest Colorado such a fascinating canvas to work and play.
Markus started shooting photography in the mid 1990s at the same time launching his career as a digital designer building custom digital footprints for high-end boutique businesses.
Over the years, Markus has worked with many artists, athletes and personalities associated with downhill mountain bike racing, free skiing, climbing, professional off-roading, real-life cowboys and outdoor specific retailers.
Markus spends the majority of his winter skiing and ice climbing in the San Juan Mountains where he is constantly looking for opportunities to tell a story with his camera about mountain living in his favorite season-winter.
He is a Mountain Khakis Ambassador and founder of the Telluride Gravity Project-a charity organization focused on getting kids outside and involved in snow sports.
