In 2006, I lived in North Carolina, USA for a while. That’s where I bought my first DSLR. I was travelling a lot for work and found that photography was a fun distraction, and more importantly, a way to share my life with friends and family who weren’t around.
After thousands of photos, many mishaps and one or two keepers, my passion for photography really kicked off when I returned home to Zimbabwe.
Without a doubt, I am a wildlife photographer - I can spend hours out in the bush trying to find, and then photograph that rare, magical moment most people never get to see. The Zambezi Valley is my favourite location. There is nothing to beat the first rains in the valley, and the sense of freedom when you’re on the dust road, not to mention the array of wildlife. It’s there in the Zambezi Valley that I’ve captured some of the most unusual moments, like the leopard and porcupine.
For me, the adventure begins as soon as I’m out on the road with my truck and my camera. Asides from the Zambezi Valley and other locations in Zimbabwe, I have travelled southern and eastern Africa for work and always make a beeline for national parks in my free time.
Over the years, my style has progressed from simply capturing the subject, to trying to touch on something emotional in that moment which lasts only for the blink of a shutter.
Although wildlife is my forte, I do enjoy taking photos of old people. There is something so true and human about them, a story of a life lies within their wrinkles, their gaze, their smiles and frowns.
Personally, the most rewarding aspect of my photography is when someone looks at a photo of mine and is astonished at something that they’ve never noticed before, such as the detail in a dragonfly’s eye, something unique that speaks to them and captures their imagination.
I decided to create this site because a lot of friends or acquaintances who live overseas were asking for prints, and this was the simplest way to go about meeting their needs. And of course, it is also a way to showcase my work! Thank you for visiting the site, and I hope you enjoy browsing.
