Robert Burns is a San Francisco based photographer who creates photos and mixed media artworks. His photos are based on inspiring situations: seemingly serene landscapes and scenarios, made interesting with subtle details of the odd, eccentric, or humorous.
In the last couple of years Burns has started to incorporate Kite Ariel Photography in addition to the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to get unique perspectives of his subjects. The subjects of his photography vary based on location and what is enhanced by light or shadow at any given time. Macro photography, time-lapse, multiple exposure, and aerial are some of the categories you can assign to his work.
Traveling and photographing new perspectives are what inspires him. Both natural and artificial light catch his eye, and color or the absence of color often frame his perspective for a particular subject. The traditional methods of film photography and chemistry in the darkroom are at the basis of his craft. The ability to continue using more traditional methods is becoming rarer, however Burns strives to continue practicing these methods and often will combine them with modern digital methods for visually rich objects.
